For the Coastal Flood Advisory, from 2 PM Wednesday to 11 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Up to 1 to 3 feet of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways resulting in a low threat of property damage. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. Dangerous shore break can throw a swimmer or surfer head first into the bottom causing neck and back injuries. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Prolonged nature of the event will lead to erosion of weaker dune structures. Winds and waves are forecast to peak latter half of Thursday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. ...GALE WARNING NOW IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM WEDNESDAY TO 8 AM EDT FRIDAY... * WHAT...Northeast winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts up to 45 kt and very rough waters expected. * WHERE...Albemarle, Croatan, and Roanoke Sounds and the Alligator River. * WHEN...From 7 AM Wednesday to 8 AM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A strong coastal low will develop offshore east of North Carolina by Wednesday, then move north towards the coast of New England by the end of the week. This low is expected to produce an extended period of hazardous marine conditions for much of the ENC waters. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions. Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for hazardous conditions. &&

...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM WEDNESDAY TO 8 PM EDT THURSDAY... * WHAT...Northeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected. * WHERE...East Carteret and Mainland Dare Counties, and Hatteras Island, Northern Outer Banks, and Ocracoke Island. The strongest winds are expected for areas adjacent to bodies of water. * WHEN...From 2 PM Wednesday to 8 PM EDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A strong coastal low will develop offshore east of the Carolinas and move north towards the New England coast by this weekend. A period of moderate to strong winds is expected to impact portions of the coast Wednesday into Thursday. These strong winds may last longer depending on the track of the low. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Secure outdoor objects. &&
